Day minus 1 Good Friday

A pause day. Maundy Thursday in Dublin yesterday with liturgy at the Carmelites in Clarendon Street. An early flight to Southampton today and then on to Winchester, to meet family. From Winchester, the former capital of England, there is a Pilgrim Way to Canterbury (about 120 miles) but sadly I haven’t got time on this trip. Maybe one for the future.

Good Friday service in the parish here. Always interesting to look (professionally!) at how others do it. Both last night and this evening they did it very well.

Time for a little bit of pack tweaking. I’m following a (honeymooning) couple about 10 days ahead on the Francigena who have posted very muddy pictures, so I decided to get overtrousers and swapped out a pair of extra socks. I’ll send them on to Lausanne. The first week of walking is across WW1 battlefields, where mud was a major feature and seemingly still is.
